Hi everyone,
Someone elsewhere asked me if I was fasting because of Lughnasadh. Of course I
had to look it up. I'm greatly interested to know if there is any connection between these two holidays, the one pagan, the Orthodox (Dormition Fast). I know that the Nativity Fast coincides with the Winter Solstice for a reason.

I had to read the link you provided and it seems to me that the pagan celebration is just for the August 1st (not 15 days).

Also do not forget that even though the Gregorian calendar was adopted in some Orthodox churches, the original fast of Panagia does not start until August 13 with the Old Calendar.
