Would someone please help me to understand what exactly the following articles are referring to in relation to the Old Testament manifestations of God and created and uncreated energies:
http://www.romanity.org/htm/rom.18.en.augustine_unknowingly_rejects_the_doctri ne.01.htm
http://www.geocities.com/trvalentine/orthodox/augustine8.html
It seems to me that what is indicated is that the Old Testament appearances of God were not of creatures. If this is the case then how are they to be understood? Is this some form of spiritual, rather than sensory, apprehension of the divine energies? And if these are not creations how are we to understand descriptions such as those of walking and eating as well as physical descriptions?
