In the English Jordanville Horologion, in the Midnight Office for Weekdays and Saturdays, there appear these Troparia for the Departed. I will put them here exactly as they appear in the book:

Reader: Amen. And these troparia, Second Tone:

Remember, O Lord, for Thou art good, Thy servants and forgive them whatsoever sins they have committed in life; for none is sinless but Thee Who art able to give repose unto them that are departed.

O Thou Who by the depth of Thy wisdom dost provide all things out of love for mankind, and grantest unto all that which is profitable, O only Creator: Grant rest, O Lord, to the souls of Thy servants; for in Thee have they placed their hope, O our Creator and Fashioner and God.

Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
Kontakion: With the saints give rest, O Christ, to the souls of Thy servants, where there is neither sickness, nor sorrow, nor sighing, but life everlasting.
Both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Theotokion: In all generations we call thee blessed, O Virgin Theotokos, for in thee the uncontainable Christ our God was pleased to be contained. Blessed are we also, having thee as mediatress; for day and night pleadest thou for us, and the scepters of kingdoms are strengthened by thine intercessions. Wherefore in hymns we cry unto thee: Rejoice! O thou who art full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

My question is this: Are all of these hymns sung in Tone 2, including the Kontakion and Theotokion? The Kontakion is typically recited in Tone 6, so I am confused. Or are they even sung at all? Should they just be intoned? I hope that my question doesn't seem too trivial...

Asking your prayers,
Jeremiah

I know the first three hymns, if they were chanted in the Greek tradition, would be in Plagal of the Fourth (I'm not sure about the last one).

I dpn't remember if they should be chanted, entoned, or just read. And I'm not sure whether this pertains to your personal prayer or public prayer in church, but if you are unsure about if or how something is chanted, it's my impression that you could always just read them.

No, only the first tropar is sung to the melody of Tone 2. The next tropar is Tone 8, then Tone 6 special melody- I don't know the tone of the last theotokion.

However- in current practice these are usually chanted/read, not sung.
